Hillary Clinton blew the 2016 presidential race by running a “horrible” campaign – and her mistakes are partially responsible for the right-leaning tilt of the U.S. Supreme Court, according to MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough.

"The fact is, Hillary never had a message. She ran a horrible campaign, and this is just, this is a consequence of it," Scarborough said Thursday on "Morning Joe."

He also compared Clinton’s run with that of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who had a surprise victory in the Democratic primary in New York's 14th congressional district, defeating 10-term incumbent, Democratic Caucus Chair Joseph Crowley.

"We saw a young woman yesterday with a campaign message that was more inspiring in three minutes than what Hillary Clinton gave us in two years," Scarborough said.

His comments after several days of explosive news out of the Supreme Court including the upholding of Trump’s travel ban, a decision against labor unions and the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy, who was the court’s vital swing vote.

Scarborough also invited Democrats to try to stop GOP lawmakers from picking a conservative to replace Kennedy, referring to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s successful bid to block President Barack Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to replace the late Antonin Scalia.

"If Mitch McConnell subverted what should be the Senate’s constitutional norms of checks and balance, well then damn it, Democrats can try to do the same thing," said Scarborough, a former GOP congressman from Florida.
