Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was not ready to concede the election to President-elect Donald Trump in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 9, until President Barack Obama called urging her to, a yet-to-be-released book will reveal, according to The Hill.

The revelation comes from three sources familiar with Clinton's election-night turn of events, per Crown Publishing book co-authors Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, The Hill's senior White House correspondent.

Obama called Clinton and said "You need to concede," after the Associated Press projected Pennsylvania to Trump around 1:30 a.m. ET, according to the report.

The news comes on the day Jill Stein has funded and petitioned to start a Wisconsin recount, which the Green Party candidate said will precede a recount petition in that state of Pennsylvania.

"There was a lot of discussion about Michigan and Wisconsin and whether the numbers could flip it," an anonymous source said, per The Hill.

"If anybody knew what actually happened that night, no one would have conceded."

Clinton, frustrated and still without an intention to concede, told her inner circle after Obama's call: "Just give me the phone. I'm calling him."

She called Trump to congratulate him before campaign manager John Podesta had returned from the Jacob Javits Center, where he told her supporters to go home for the night because the final votes were being tallied.

Obama allies are "dead-set against the multi-state recount effort," according to The Hill. Former Obama White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer even mocked the challenging of the election results on Twitter recently.
