One of the potential Democratic swing votes on Judge Brett Kavanaugh, Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., is officially a "no," she told ABC Fargo, North Dakota's WDAY News in an exclusive interview.
"The process has been bad, but in the end of the day you have to make a decision," Sen. Heitkamp says in the previews of the interview which will air on WDAY News on Thursday. "And I've made that decision."
"I will be voting no on Judge Kavanaugh."
Heitkamp is a Democrat in a red state won by President Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, which has made her potentially vulnerable in the November midterm elections against GOP challenger Kevin Cramer.
The past month has given Cramer a huge push in the polls, according to Fox News. Cramer now leads Heitkamp by 12 points (53-41) after a mere four-point edge (48-44) a month ago.
It has been speculated Cramer's surge might be related to the political battles and controversies surrounding Judge Kavanaugh's Senate confirmation process on his Supreme Court nomination.
