Republican nominee Mitt Romney should choose either Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal or former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to be his vice president, according to South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
Haley herself has also been mentioned as a potential running mate for Romney. When asked during a Facebook chat with South Carolina residents who she favors, Haley wrote, “There are amazing candidates for VP and [I] believe whoever Gov. Romney chooses will be part of a dream team. My preference would be Bobby Jindal or Condi Rice,” the State reported.
The South Carolina governor backed Romney in 2008, in South Carolina’s primary earlier this year, and campaigned for him in other states.
According to a recent report in the National Journal, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman is quietly becoming the Republicans’ consensus pick to be Romney’s running mate in the fall election.
Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida has also been mentioned as a possibility for the No. 2 spot and The National Review reported that Romney is also interested in South Dakota Sen. John Thune as a running mate.
