Congressional Candidate Says He'll Take Bible Over Obamacare

By    |   Tuesday, 17 Sep 2013 04:13 PM

Republican congressional candidate Wells Griffith says in a new ad that he's running because of his opposition to Obamacare, which he says runs counter to the Bible and the Constitution.

The television ad was released Tuesday by the former Deputy Chief-of-Staff to the Republican National Committee, one week out from the crowded September 24 GOP primary for Alabama's First District.

Story continues below video.

"My parents taught me to look to the Bible and the Constitution for wisdom and guidance in life," Griffith says as he puts those documents down and picks up a huge stack of paper.

"But this document, Obamacare, this is why I'm running for Congress," he says

"Because we won't get back to creating jobs until these thousands of pages of economic destruction are relegated to the trash pile of history," Griffith says as he throws the paper into a trash can.

Griffith is looking to replace Rep. Jo Bonner who resigned in August to take a job as chancellor for the University of Alabama System.

Nine Republicans are vying to win the primary for the staunchly Republican district around Mobile. Former state senator Bradley Byrne is considered the favorite, according to Southern Political Report.
