It's "pure fantasy" that President Donald Trump's campaign was "in bed with Vlad," former White House aide Sebastian Gorka says in an interview with the gun magazine Recoil published Friday, blaming the rumors on Trump's Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.

"The Kremlin has been mucking around in democratic elections around the world since its inception," Gorka told Recoil magazine. "That’s not news. But the idea that the Trump campaign was in bed with Vlad is pure fantasy. It’s just yet another way for the losing candidate to ignore her own culpability for her abysmal performance."

Gorka also told the magazine that he doesn't regret getting into politics, but he feels it was his duty once he was asked to become strategist to Trump.

"The last few months have been a true odyssey, with the fake news industrial complex publishing literally hundreds of hit pieces not just on me, but attacking my wife, my dead mother, and even my teenage son," said Gorka. "One reporter wrote 45 attack pieces alone! But with my family background, I was ready."

He explained that his father was "betrayed as a Hungarian anti-Communist," arrested, tortured and sentenced to life in prison by the age of 20, so he doesn't consider attacks by the media as being "just that: words."

Gorka left the Trump inner circle in August, sparking controversy over whether he'd been fired or that he'd resigned his post.

He told Recoil, when asked about his dream job, that "after teaching thousands of Marines, FBI agents, and tier-one operators, and then being Deputy Assistant to the president? Maybe owning a rural log cabin store that sells tactical firearms and fine cigars."

He also commented that the travel ban on Muslim-majority countries, and working with Trump's "Make America Great Again' agenda were among his proudest achievements in his eight months at the White House.

The former strategist Saturday praised Recoil for the article,  saying the "best most accurate interview" about him came through the gun magazine, not by the traditional media.
