Many Republicans who are trying to replace outgoing GOP members in safe conservative congressional districts are giving some of their campaign money to the National Republican Congressional Committee and their GOP brethren in more competitive races. These candidates not only are helping to elect like-minded policymakers but also are creating goodwill for themselves in the party,
Politico reports.
“The guys who are already helping out the team have caught the eye of the leadership and will definitely have a leg up on their fellow class members the day they arrive on the Hill,” one House Republican staffer told Politico.
Among the candidates donating are Chuck Fleischmann in Tennessee, Todd Rokita in Indiana, Steve Buyer in Indiana, Steve Womack in Arkansas, Jeff Denham in California, and Trey Gowdy in South Carolina.
