Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer and the former mayor of New York City, said the decision on a treatment for COVID-19 should be one made by doctors — not the bureaucrats in Washington.”
In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Giuliani asserted the controversial treatment of the disease caused by the coronavirus with hydroxychloroquine ought to be allowed without any regulatory pushback.
“I think we should let doctors decide whether we should use hydroxychloroquine, not the national bureaucracy,” he said. “This disease can kill you, and if hydroxychloroquine has side effects, none of which are death by the way, then those side effects I may want to endure because of the risk of death, and it may be different if I'm 25 or if I'm 75. Those choices should be given to doctors, not to the bureaucrats in Washington.”
Giuliani also criticized New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo on the issue.
“Governor Cuomo mainly has been very good. He's given valid information. He's reacted properly. He's reacted with the right amount of fear and worry for people, as well as trying to encourage them,” he said.
"I think the situation, however, on hydroxychloroquine is a terrible terrible mistake. It deprives one person of the medicine and that person dies it's a mistake,” he said.
