Gallup Poll: Trump Job Approval Higher Than Approval of Him

Forty percent of Americans approve of President Donald Trump’s job performance, while 34% approve of him as a person, according to a new Gallup poll.

And 56% disapprove of his job performance, compared to 62% who disapprove of him as a person.

Here are how the results, released Thursday, break down:

  • 87% of Republicans approve of his job performance, compared to 76% who approve of Trump as a person.  12% disapprove of his job performance, compared to 21% who disapprove of him as a person.
  • 5% of Democrats approve of his job performance, while 6% approve of him as a person. 92% disapprove of his job performance, compared to 91% who disapprove of him as a person.
  • 36% of independents approve of Trump’s job performance, while 28% approve of him as a person. 59% disapprove of his job performance, compared to 66% who disapprove of him as a person.

The poll, conducted Sept. 16-30, surveyed 2,431 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.
