Frank Luntz: Scott Walker's Lack of College Degree a Non-Issue

By    |   Thursday, 12 Feb 2015 05:54 PM

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is being hit over his lack of a college degree, but voters care more about how smart Walker has been more recently in his office as governor, says pollster and political consultant Frank Luntz.

Appearing Thursday on Fox News Channel's "Your World with Neil Cavuto," Luntz noted that the two best-educated presidents since the middle of the 20th century are Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama. The two worst: Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan.

Luntz says that when he does focus groups on the issue a couple of people might say they are concerned that Walker left college shy of a degree.

"But they are overwhelmed by Republicans who say, 'Wait a minute, our most intelligent presidents have often been our worst presidents, and here's a guy who understands how to get things done. He has won three elections,'" Luntz said.
