Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban "is not a legitimate person" to have been invited to Monday night's national presidential debate, Donald Trump adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn told NBC's "Meet the Press" with host Chuck Todd on Sunday.

Todd had pressed Flynn on the Gennifer Flowers tweet by Trump in response to Cuban being invited to the debate by Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and her campaign.

"Why is it appropriate to invite Mark Cuban?" Flynn asked Todd. "He's not a legitimate person. Why is he invited?"

Trump trolled the Clinton campaign by saying he would invite Flowers – with whom former President Bill Clinton admitted having an affair in 1998. Republican vice presidential nonimee Mike Pence told "Fox News Sunday" that Flowers would not be at the debate, despite the tweet.
