Rep. Andy Biggs: FISA Abuse Probe Long Overdue

(Fox News' "Happening Now")

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., said Thursday the inspector general's review of federal surveillance is "overdue," and he hopes it will restore confidence in the government.

"I think it's overdue, and I'm hoping that they can get to the bottom of this and help restore some confidence in our government," Biggs told Fox News' "Happening Now."

"I mean if you've got FISA as Judge [Andrew] Napolitano said 'turned upside down,' which is what I think is happening, where they're spying on Americans without adequate Fourth Amendment protections then you have a real problem, and that's why we need to get to the bottom of this," he continued.

Although Biggs expressed confidence in the inspector general, two notable Republicans have questioned whether the office is up to the job. Former congressman Jason Chaffetz, now a Fox News commentator, said Thursday a second special prosecutor should be appointed, a position supported by Judicial Watch founder Larry Flayman.
