A defiant President Donald Trump ripped a federal appellate court's decision on his executive order travel ban Thursday as "a political decision" and vowed "we're going to win."

"No, this is just a decision that came down — but we're gonna win the case," he told reporters at the White House. "It's a decision we will win, in my opinion, very easily."

He said he had just learned of the decision via news reports and he had not yet conferred with new Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

"We'll be making the decision over the next week," Trump said.

The Justice Department said the agency was "reviewing the decision and considering its options."

Within minutes of the unanimous ruling by the three-judge panel, Trump said on Twitter:
