GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee says he isn't concerned at this stage in the game that evangelical Christians are flocking to front-runner Donald Trump instead of him as they were when he last ran in 2008.
"I look at it this way: Evangelicals are all over the map, and a lot of them are going with Trump," Huckabee said Monday on
Fox News Channel's "The Kelly File." "But this is the dating season, not the marrying season – that comes in February when the caucuses come."
Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and Fox News host, is also an ordained Baptist minister.
He told Kelly there will be lots of changes before voters cast their ballots.
"It's the middle of September for gosh sake. There's a lot of ground to be covered, a lot of debates to be held," Huckabee said. "I don't think most of us who have ever been in politics very long get that worried about the polls at this stage of the game. Now, if we're looking at these kind of numbers in January, Megyn, then come talk to me because we've got problems."
