A former chief ethics lawyer for President George W. Bush on Wednesday said White House counselor Kellyanne Conway should be fired for violating the Hatch Act.

Conway did a TV interview standing in front of the White House earlier this week and advocated for — but stopped short of endorsing — Roy Moore in the upcoming Alabama special election, grounds for termination, Richard Painter tweeted.

Painter's reference to Strike 2 is that earlier this year, Conway touted Ivanka Trump's clothing line in a TV interview, though she was subsequently cleared for having acted "inadvertently."

But this is different, and recently departed Office of Government Ethics chief Walter Shaub said he has filed a complaint with the Office of Special Counsel.

In an interview earlier this week on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" morning show, Conway lit up Moore's opponent in the Dec. 12 special election, Democrat Doug Jones.

"Doug Jones in Alabama, folks, don't be fooled," Conway said Monday. "He will be a vote against tax cuts. He is weak on crime, weak on borders. He is strong on raising your taxes. He is terrible for property owners."

When pressed twice if that meant "vote Roy Moore?" Conway weaved.

"I'm telling you that we want the votes in the Senate to get this tax bill through," Conway said. "
