Apparently influenced by fear of leaked emails which featured so prominently in the presidential election, Republicans in Washington are trying to keep their messages safe by increasingly using Confide as a communication tool, Axios reported on Wednesday.

Confide, an encrypted messaging app that deletes chats after they have been read by the recipient, has reportedly been downloaded by numerous senior GOP operatives and several members of the Trump administration.

Inc reported what makes this app different from others is that it also more difficult to take screenshots, because it doesn't display the entire message at once. Users have to swipe their screens to read the next portion of text.

One influential GOP operative who is using the app admits that he and other Republicans are especially paranoid about their messaging after Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's email scandal.

Axios points out, however, that all official business in the administration is supposed to be conducted via White House e-mail so communications can be archived for the presidential record.

Confide was founded in 2014 by four tech veterans, and the startup has so far raised $3 million from investors, including Google Ventures.
