President Donald Trump has spent almost one-third of his time in office at his business properties at taxpayer expense, according to a report by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), Newsweek reported Tuesday.
The government watchdog group said Trump has visited his properties 362 times at taxpayer expense since entering the White House in January 2017, including 81 trips so far this year.
CREW also said in the report, 111 foreign officials have made more than 130 visits to Trump properties, which the watchdog said raises questions as to how much money these governments have spent at Trump Organization properties.
CREW executive director Noah Bookbinder told Newsweek, "Not only has President Trump continued to use the presidency to try to enrich himself, he has also granted foreign governments and special interests the opportunity to purchase access to his administration by patronizing his businesses."
The report also found, Trump Organization properties have taken in almost $6 million from political groups, and political organizations have spent more than $1 million so far this year by holding events at properties owned by the president.
According to the report, Trump's businesses had never made more than $100,000 from political groups in a year before he ran for president.
