Democrats should distance themselves from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi if they think it will help them win election in November, the president of Emily's List said Tuesday.
Stephanie Schriock has run the super PAC, which is dedicated to helping elect pro-choice female candidates, since 2010. When asked about Pelosi in an interview on CNBC, she said: "We need to win. So if you feel like you're in a district that you need to make those types of positions, you've got to do what you've got to do to win."
She added, "We just have to win. We have to take back the majority, and that's really critically important."
Schriock also said that although she wasn't sure if any of the candidates Emily's List has endorsed didn't support Pelsoi, she wouldn't be bothered if any vowed to vote against Pelosi should Democrats take back a majority in the House.
"We're running women in a whole variety of districts right now across the country — some in suburban, exurban districts, some in rural districts," Schriock said. "And they need to make the best choices to win those districts. And we're going to back them up.
"We think she's been a very, very good leader," Schriock added. "But we also know that the Republicans, for good or bad, made a decision to demonize her."
