Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic senator preparing a run for president in 2020 on a message of economic populism, is still worth millions of dollars, according to her first financial disclosure report released by the Federal Election Commission and obtained by the Center for Public Integrity.

Warren, who has proposed ramping up taxes on the nation's highest earners, has received $300,000 for an advance of her book "This Fight Is Our Fight," retains her title as "emeritus professor" at Harvard University and has assets tucked away in retirement and investment accounts ranging in value from $2.59 million and $8.38 million.

Last week, the senator from Massachusetts said she wanted billionaires "to stop being freeloaders" in defense of her "ultra-millionaire tax" for those with a net worth that exceeds $50 million.

Her team says the plan is projected to raise $2.75 trillion over a decade.

"I want them to pick up their fair share," she said. "That's how we make a system that works not just for the rich and the powerful but works for all of us."

Warren, whose net worth was estimated to be $4.6 million in 2017, is expected to formally announce her candidacy Saturday.
