Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao s resigning effective Monda, making her the first Trump administration Cabinet member to leave in the wake of Wednesday's violence at the U.S. Capitol.

In a statement Thursday, Chao, who is married to Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell, said the violence  “has deeply troubled me in a way that I simply cannot set aside.”
