Rep. Collins: Americans Reject 'Witch-Hunt' Impeachment

Americans will not stand for the Democrats' "partisan witch-hunt" impeachment inquiry, and it will eventually backfire and benefit President Donald Trump, Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., predicted Thursday.

"If you're going to have an impeachment inquiry, let's do it by the light of day," Collins told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "Let's put witnesses up there that not only have (the Democrats') point of view."

Democrats have decided, however, they will pursue the inquiry behind closed doors and away from public view, Collins said, which is "un-American. It's not what we are about. It's not due process."

Meanwhile, Republicans will call their witness in full public view, rather than behind closed doors, and will not rely on leaks to put out their side of the story, Collins said.

He added Hunter Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, will be at the top of the list of witnesses called, because of his ties to Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdings.

"Why not Hunter Biden?" Collins said. "Why not have the [Ukraine] ambassadors there? Why not have others from the administration . . . who would have input into the process."

Collins also joined in the call to release former U.S. Envoy Kurt Volker's full closed-door testimony, which will address the allegations there was an arrangement between Trump and Ukraine to expose the Bidens.

"The Democrats are not releasing that transcript is because it goes against the entire narrative that they want to paint," Collins said. "They don't want to put it out because they're ashamed."
