President Donald Trump tweeted on Monday that his former national security adviser John Bolton “was such a jerk” for criticizing his “love letters” from North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

Trump, who has attempted to block Bolton from publishing a book about his time in the administration, tweeted on Monday: “Just heard that Wacko John Bolton was talking of the fact that I discussed ‘love letters from Kim Jong Un’ as though I viewed them as just that. Obviously, was just being sarcastic. Bolton was such a jerk!”

Trump has repeatedly praised Kim Jong Un, saying they have a “good relationship,” and that they “fell in love,” after meeting. The president said at a rally in 2018 that Kim “wrote me beautiful letters, and they’re great letters. We fell in love.”

Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders wrote in her book, “Speaking for Myself,” that Trump encouraged her to “go to North Korea and take one for the team,” after Kim winked at her during the Singapore summit in June 2018.
