President Donald Trump appears to be trying to sway Democratic senators to vote for the GOP's tax plan by traveling to their home states and rallying their supporters.

CNN reported that in the wake of Trump's visit to Missouri this week and a planned stop in North Dakota next week, the president is targeting states he won in last year's election to help sell his agenda to the American people — and the folks in Congress who vote on it.

The network cited an official in the Trump administration who said he plans to hit the road on a weekly basis moving forward.

Of the states Trump has visited in recent weeks as he tries to persuade lawmakers to vote for his agenda — West Virginia, Arizona, Nevada, and Missouri — all of them have tight Senate races for the 2018 midterm elections.

The White House would not comment to CNN about Trump's travel schedule as it relates to the 2018 elections.

Trump had this to say on Twitter ahead of his Missouri visit, referencing Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.:

Republicans hold a majority in the Senate, 52 seats to 48 seats. Democrats are working overtime to overcome their minority in 2018, and they're also hoping Trump himself will turn off enough voters to help Democrats pick up the seats they need.
