President Donald Trump on Saturday again ripped the Russia special counsel investigation as a "rigged witch hunt," noting that "public opinion has turned strongly" against the investigation because "the public understands that there was no collusion with Russia."

"So ridiculous," Trump said in his tweet:

Regarding "public opinion" on Robert Mueller's inquiry, President Trump was alluding to poll results released Friday by The Washington Post and the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University showing support for the probe at only 45 percent.

That was down 14 points from January.

Trump's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, hinted at the survey results in an interview with The New York Times outlining new terms for any possible interview the president might give with Mueller.

"Nobody is going to consider impeachment if public opinion has concluded this is an unfair investigation," Giuliani said, "and that's why public opinion is so important."
