President Donald Trump on Friday beat back reports that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was being replaced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo, slamming them on Twitter as "fake news" and declaring that "he's not leaving."

Here's Trump's tweet:

The president also posted his statement on Instagram with a picture from Tillerson's swearing in as the nation's top diplomat in February:

Tillerson called "laughable" reports this week that Trump planned to replace him with CIA Director Mike Pompeo — and CNN disclosed Friday that the dispatches were floated to publicly shame Tillerson and get him to resign.

Trump himself told reporters Thursday that "Rex is here" during a brief photo-op at the White House.

Tillerson and Trump has disagreed over the Iran nuclear agreement — and their relationship has reportedly soured after reports disclosed that the secretary of state had called the president an "(expletive) moron" over the summer.
