Sen. Harry Reid continued his verbal assault on Donald Trump on the Senate floor Monday, calling the Republican presidential nominee racist.
"Donald Trump is a racist," said Reid, the Senate Minority Leader. "Racist is a term I don't throw around lightly.
"Madame President, we've all — with rare exception I don't know who it would be — said things that are not politically correct. But I don't know of anyone that when that happens, he doesn't acknowledge for it and, if necessary, apologize quickly. But Donald Trump doesn't believe the racist things he does and says are wrong."
The Washington Post published a clip of Reid's remarks.
Reid has criticized Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, on several fronts for months. His latest comments came just a few hours before Trump was scheduled to square off with Democrat Hillary Clinton in the first of three presidential debates.
In recent weeks, Reid has blasted Trump for referencing his eye injury, called him a "human leech," accused him of using his foundation as a "personal ATM machine," and said Trump is lying about how much he is worth.
