President Donald Trump is planning to interrupt a week's stay next week at Trump Tower for a trip back to Washington on Monday, according to Politico.
The information came from a Politico review of an updated schedule for the president that was presented to New York law enforcement.
Trump had been set to arrive in New York City Sunday to hold "internal meetings" at Trump Tower for two days. Instead he will return to Washington Monday morning and fly back Monday evening, according to the schedule.
No explanation has been given for Trump's return. The White House is being renovated while Trump is away, and the Oval Office is being refurbished. Staffers have been working across the street at the Old Executive Office Building, Politico reported.
The schedule, which Politico said remains subject to change, showed the president returning to New York late Monday afternoon, staying at Trump Tower for two days, then heading to his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club to spend the remaining days of a "working vacation."
Trump's return to Trump Tower would be his first since his inauguration, Politico's report said.
