Donald Trump is open to softening his stance on illegal immigrants already in this country, but building a wall on the Mexico-U.S. border is not an issue he will be back off on, according to Politico and The Texas Tribune reports from a pre-recorded town hall meeting Tuesday with Fox News host Sean Hannity.
"It's going to happen, 100 percent," Trump told Hannity on Tuesday, per the reports, echoing his speech Monday night in Ohio.
The Trump campaign has put off a speech on immigration in Colorado on Thursday, according to reports, as he reshapes his controversially tough stances on immigration amid a recent campaign shakeup.
The immigration pivot in an attempt to reach minority voters of late has not persuaded activists such as Ana Navarro, who said Monday "he burned those bridges a long, long time ago."
Trump is trailing his Democratic counterpart Hillary Clinton by wide margins among non-white voters, particularly in battleground states such as Florida.
