Former first lady Melania Trump in a video promoting her memoir released Thursday said she wanted to "clarify the facts" about her life.
"Writing this memoir has been a deeply and reflective journey for me. As a private person who has often been the subject of public scrutiny and misrepresentation, I feel a responsibility to clarify the facts," the former first lady says in the black-and-white video posted to her X account.
"I believe it is important to share my perspective: the truth," she adds, before the words "My Story," "My Perspective," and "The Truth" flash on screen.
The video also includes clips and photographs from Trump's time in the White House.
Melania Trump has maintained a low profile this election cycle and has made only a handful of appearances alongside her husband, GOP nominee Donald Trump.
She sought to maintain her privacy even as she served as first lady, focusing on raising their son, Barron Trump, and promoting her "Be Best" initiative to support the "social, emotional, and physical health of children."
Her memoir, "Melania," is coming out this fall and is billed by her office as a "a powerful and inspiring story of a woman who has carved her own path, overcome adversity and defined personal excellence."
