Donald Trump Jr. is scheduled to meet with members of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday to discuss the presidential campaign's contact with Russia, The Washington Post reports.

According to the Post, word of the meeting comes from three Democratic members of the committee.

It will mark the first chance committee members will have to question a member of President Donald Trump's inner circle about contacts with the Russians during the presidential campaign.

Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer and others during the campaign — a meeting that has been the subject of testimony before a grand that special counsel Robert Mueller has empaneled, CNBC noted.

Committee members plan to talk to President Trump's then-campaign manager Paul Manafort and the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, about the meeting in Trump Tower, the Post reported.

Both have already spoken to the staff of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Meanwhile, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr questioned whether Trump Jr. could shed more light on the meeting.

"Tell me what value there is to that one, I'll entertain it," Burr said,

He added, however, the committee would talk with Trump Jr. before completing its review, according to the Post.
