Trump Says US 'More Vulnerable From Inside' Than Ever

By    |   Tuesday, 24 October 2023 10:56 AM EDT

Former President Donald Trump hammered President Joe Biden on his immigration policy Tuesday, saying on social media that the U.S. is "more vulnerable from inside" than ever before.

"With the millions of people that Crooked Joe Biden has allowed into the United States through his ridiculous Open Borders Policy, mostly young men, and large numbers of TERRORISTS, the U.S. is more vulnerable from inside terror attacks than at any time in its history, BY FAR! MAGA," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The Department of Homeland Security in September warned in its annual Homeland Threat Assessment for 2024 that terrorism "remains a top threat" to the United States.

Noting that foreign terror groups such as al-Qaida and ISIS are rebuilding and "could seek to target" the U.S., the report pointed to the "record encounters of migrants from a growing number of countries" that have "complicated border and immigration security."

Biden has also come under fire from Republican lawmakers for the migrant crisis at the southern border, with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, saying last month that "the next planner of 9/11" will likely travel to Mexico, "come right across and Joe Biden and the idiots in his administration will fly you to wherever you want to go in this country."

On Saturday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported an all-time, one-month high of 269,735 illegal border crossings for September, raising the total for 2023 up to a record 2.47 million and straining CBP resources and personnel.

As the front-runner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, Trump is likely to intensify his attacks on Biden's border policy heading into the election year, especially given the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, which has one of the most secure borders in the world.

Two days before the deadly attack on the Jewish state that left more than 1,400 Israelis dead, Biden found himself in the unusual position of having to defend his administration's decision to waive 26 federal laws in South Texas to allow for the construction of approximately 20 miles of additional border wall, which critics decried as a stunning White House reversal.

A longtime critic of Trump's border wall, Biden has been under increasing pressure from Democrat governors and mayors to stem the flow of illegal migration into their communities.

Despite telling reporters he did not believe walls work, Biden said he tried to get lawmakers to redirect the funds for the project, which were appropriated in 2019, but Congress refused.

"The money was appropriated for the border wall," he said. "I can't stop that."

Trump weighed in on the administration's move, saying it showed he was right about the border barrier.

"As I have stated often, over thousands of years, there are only two things that have consistently worked, wheels, and walls!" Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Will Joe Biden apologize to me and America for taking so long to get moving ... I will await his apology!"
