A new digital ad will debut in Times Square this week portraying GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump as Superman – just as his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton suffered a fainting spell.
The ad has a photograph of Trump's head on a cartoon body in a Superman suit – but with a capital "T" where the planet Krypton's favorite son has the logo that looks like an Earthian "S" – though, as any comic book fan can tell you, it is actually the crest of Krypton's El family.
In the ad, Super Trump flies into the scene in front of clouds and an American flag background before flying away. The words "Super Trump: Make America Great Again" are seen above and below him.
The digital billboard stands 55 feet tall and is sponsored by the Committee to Restore America, the New York Post reported. It will run Tuesday-Friday on Broadway between 46th and 47th streets, and will be seen next week on the Interstate 4 Corridor in Central Florida.
The ad cost $25,000, Trump adviser Roger Stone told the Post, though it was unclear if that was for the New York run, included the Florida run, or was the ad's production cost.
Conservative filmmaker Joel Gilbert produced the ad and said it is a contrast to Clinton and her health issues.
"Donald Trump has the stamina to be president," Gilbert told the Post. "You see Trump traveling the country on his airplane. He's looking to solve people’s problems . . . It's giving power back to the people. Who is more American than Superman?"
The Times Square campaign was funded by Robert Shillman, a San Diego tech mogul, according to the newspaper.
"When I was a kid, Superman was my idol because he stood for Truth, Justice, and the American Way, just like Donald Trump," Shillman said.
