Trump campaign spokeswoman Katrina Pierson is unveiling a debate-night, ad-blitz strategy that will "flood the airwaves" in battleground states during the Monday night face-off between the GOP nominee and Hillary Clinton.

In a letter to supporters asking for donations to "make this blitz as effective as possible," Pierson said the idea was to counter debate night spin by anti-Donald Trump TV pundits.

"Our campaign is planning to flood the airwaves with pro-Trump ads in battleground states," she says in an email fundraising pitch to supporters.

"So when the media spend hours after the debate bashing our campaign, every single one of their lies and attacks will be followed by pro-Trump ads during the commercials."

Pierson said the campaign goal was to raise $1.3 million by the first debate.

"This is an incredible opportunity to get our message out to millions and millions of undecided voters who will determine the fate of this election," she added.

One of the ads that will run, she said, titled "Movement" and posted on the campaign website – debuted Tuesday.

Politico reported Trump's campaign has largely "ceded the airwaves to Hillary Clinton" in the run-up to the debate, noting pro-Trump ads ran last week in the battleground states of Florida, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

According to Smart Media Group, a media buying firm that works with the Republican National Committee, Trump had spent $17 million on TV ads through Sept. 12, compared to $126 million for Clinton, Politico reported.
