President Donald Trump slammed Democrats for their failed trade deals, calling them the worst in "world history" in a Monday morning tweet.
In one of his first actions as president, Trump in January formally withdrew the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.
Trump said on July 17 that he wants a new agreement to cut the $64 billion trade deficit with Mexico.
"No longer are we going to allow other countries to break the rules, to steal our jobs and drain our wealth," Trump said at the time.
Trump has also been critical of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). In April, Trump said he had been ready to pull out, but he was talked out of it.
"I was all set to terminate. I looked forward to terminating. I was going to do it."
Democrats recently have supported Trump on some trade issues. Three top Democratic senators on Aug. 2 urged Trump to take on China over trade practices, according to Reuters.
