Should presidential candidate Donald Trump drop out of the race, the real estate mogul and TV personality predicts that that there would be a "major collapse" in not only the Republican race, but also television ratings,
The New York Times reports.
"There'd be a major collapse of the race, and there'd be a major collapse of television ratings," he said from his office in Trump Tower, according to The New York Times.
"It would become a depression in television."
Although Trump continues to lead every poll,
Trump told CNBC last week, "If I fell behind badly, I would certainly get out."
But according to the Times, Trump noted that a presidential race without him would become so "boring."
"I wouldn't even be watching it probably, and neither would anybody else," he said.
Apart from being boring, Trump emphasized the financial doom that would befall on the TV industry if he dropped out of the race.
"I have made Fox and CNN so much money, and MSNBC, so much money," Trump said.
Should the day come for Trump to withdraw from the presidential race, Trump told The New York Times that it would take time to re-acclimate to life as a businessman.
"Well, it's very intense, and it will certainly be like being in a decompression chamber," he said.
