Donald Trump Jr. Wednesday rejected gossip about his appearance during the Republican National Convention earlier this week while getting in a dig about Democrat nominee Joe Biden's son Hunter.
After he spoke, speculation circulated through some media outlets and people on Twitter about the president's eldest son because of how his eyes looked, but he told Fox News' Steve Doocy on "Fox and Friends" that his eyes may have appeared to look glassy to some because of the lighting on the stage where he spoke.
"I saw that the main concern was, 'Why were his eyes so glassy?'" Doocy said to Trump Jr.
"Well I guess there must have been something with the lighting but they started doing this trending thing, Donald Trump Jr.'s on cocaine and all of that," Trump Jr. said. "I said, 'No, no, you have me confused with Hunter Biden,'" he added, getting a dig in on the Democrat nominee's son, who last summer came clean about his history of drug addiction.
"When they can't attack the delivery, when they can't attack the substance, they got to attack something," he added. "Just like Bette Midler and all of these last night attacking Melania [Trump] because she didn't speak English the same way that they would. She speaks five languages, she's from a foreign country, and she got up on a world stage and knocked it out of the park, but do you know what? Attack her."
However, he said he believes his father seems "really excited" about the convention, as it's "showcasing the American dream."
Trump Jr. also pointed to Nick Sandmann, the teenager who successfully sued two media giants after a video of his confrontation with a Native American protester went viral, as an example of why it's important to stand up to the "nonsense that we have in the media." "If the left and their media are willing to destroy a 16-year-old child to push their nonsense, what won't they destroy?" he asked.
