Dick Morris to Newsmax: Harris 'Was Trying to Get Out of the Debate'

By    |   Saturday, 07 September 2024 01:35 PM EDT

Vice President Kamala Harris' reported balking at muted mics was just a ploy to try to avoid answering to the American people in Tuesday's debate, according to presidential adviser Dick Morris on Newsmax.

"I think she was trying to get out of the debate," Morris told "Saturday Report." "This debate will be make or break for her.

"And she can do all the fluffy appearances with no mics she wants. But when they actually ask her a question, she's got to answer. And the debate is an hour and a half of those.

"So I think she was trying to get out of it any way she could."

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump held firm on the previously agreed-upon debate rules for Tuesday, in part, because Harris has been adamant on doing just one debate to avoid having to answer direct opposition, according to Morris.

"This debate is crucial," Morris told host Rita Cosby "The interview with Dana Bash raised questions about Kamala, and now this debate has to answer it."

Morris also shared a memo he sent Trump on Saturday morning and will discuss later Saturday as debate talking points against Harris.

"Let me just read you the script that I've sent President Trump that I'm urging him to do," Morris said.

"I think he should say:

'Let me tell you about Kamala Harris' America. No private health insurance. You take what the government offers. In Britain and Canada, you wait two months to see a doctor, four months to see an oncologist, and your tumor keeps growing. Kids get taught critical race theory in school. All whites are racist, and they get ahead by exploiting Black people. Big tax penalties. If you work freelance for yourself, you have to go onto a corporate payroll and then into a union. It's a system Harris passed in California, but she wants to take it national.
'If the police catch you, they have to book you and let you go. No bail, no pretrial detention. Shoplifting is not a felony unless you steal $1,000. Medicare and Medicaid are bankrupt because millions of foreigners get benefits, even if they're illegal and never paid into the systems.
'Schools can transition boys into girls and never even tell the parents, you put Jack on the school bus and Jill gets off. Boys win all the medals and scholarships in girls sports.
'Gas costs much more because we had to cut our oil production by 60% because Kamala banned fracking. Inflation continues because the government keeps printing money. Those on welfare get aid with no work requirements and no time limits.
'Welcome to Kamala Harris' America.'

"This is the actual text that I'm urging him to give in the debate," Morris concluded. "I've not read it to him yet. I sent it to him this morning. But I'll speak to him an hour or two and read it to him, and I think he'll like it."
