Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., was booed at a town hall meeting Monday when she said she did not agree with a single-payer healthcare system, the Los Angeles Times reported.
"If single-payer healthcare is going to mean the complete takeover by the government of all healthcare, I am not there," Feinstein said to a packed crowd in San Francisco in response to one man's question about legislation introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., where all residents of the U.S. would be covered for all medically necessary services.
According to the Times, one audience member called Feinstein a "sellout" and others joined in chants of "Single-payer now!"
One man urged Feinstein to speak out against the fascists in the White House, particularly White House chief strategist Steve Bannon. Then the audience started heckling her. She responded: "Whoa, whoa, whoa, you're pretty good at yelling."
"All of this takes a plan," she said. "You've got to work something out. You've got to have people with you. You can sit here and pound your fists, and I can show you what I've gotten done. And you can take a look at it. And I'd be surprised if you found too many senators, if any, that have gotten more done."
