Nunes: Trump Has to Tweet Due to Hostile Media

President Donald Trump has to tweet in order to get his message across to the public due to a hostile media, House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes told Fox & Friends over the weekend.

The California Republican's comments came as Democrats criticized Attorney General William Barr for supporting a reduced sentence for former Trump associate Roger Stone, and the president received backlash for what many considered interfering in the justice system.

Barr himself told ABC News that Trump's tweets about open cases in the Justice Department "make it impossible for me to do my job."

Nunes said that "I think what the attorney general said was very clear, that the president should be careful making comments about criminal investigations. One should not see that as anything other than but what it is," Nunez said, pointing out that Barr "didn't say to stop tweeting, because the fact of the matter is, with 90% of the media being hard left and really just working for the Democratic Party, the president has to be able to tweet."

Nunes added that Trump has "built a powerful tool reaching [millions of people] ... so the president has to tweet. At the same time, the attorney general has to be able to do his job."

The congressman said, "It's understandable that the president can be frustrated" about the Stone case.

Nunes also credited Barr for what he called trying to restore the public's trust in the Department of Justice.

"What the American people have to understand is that this is not going to be cleaned up overnight," Nunes explained. "There's a lot of damage that has been done, and the left is very good at seeding people in."
