Rep. Devin Nunes Thursday demanded to know "who at the FBI" keeps covering up information that would both incriminate the agency and exonerate former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, and called for an overall investigation into the new findings released from the agency's records indicating intentions toward the retired three-star general.
"There are 3 reports that really need to be analyzed," the California Republican told Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo, listing the Fusion GPS/Christopher Steele dossier, the intelligence assessment after the 2016 investigation "that I call Obama's dossier," and independent counsel Robert Mueller's report.
His comments come after the news that handwritten FBI notes that were unsealed on Wednesday showed a concerted effort to pin him down on having broken the Logan Act, "get him to lie," or "get him fired."
"There needs to be an entire investigation of all of those people that were involved all the lawyers, everybody from DOJ to FBI all the way down," said Nunes. "We knew from essentially day one, early on in 2016, that he was innocent. How do we know that, because the top officials at the FBI told us so. This wasn't rocket science."
But the House Republican report on Russian collusion is the "gold standard" of reports because the "others are all based on lies or innuendo or corruption," said Nunes.
"We had to fight for nearly two months (to get) our report put it out," said Nunes. "It said there was no evidence of collusion. We also had very important information in there about Gen. Flynn. It said that we had evidence that Gen. Flynn did not lie...we had to fight with the FBI and DOJ."
However, the FBI "keeps covering this up," said the congressman. "I get it is not good for the FBI, but I want to know who at FBI keeps covering this up."
