Nunes Warns That Wray, Rosenstein Could Face Contempt Over Docs

Republican Congressman Devin Nunes is threatening his own brand of impeachment against two top Justice Department officials if they don't turn over a critical, un-redacted two-page document.

In an interview Tuesday night on Fox News' "Ingraham Angle," Nunes, R-Calif., said he has reached a "boiling point" with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray over the two-page electronic communication (EC) used to formally begin the Justice Department's counterintelligence investigation into alleged collusion between Russia and the campaign of President Donald Trump.

"We're not going to just hold in contempt. We will have a plan to hold in contempt and to impeach," Nunes told host Laura Ingraham. "We're not messing around here; they're going to give us these two documents."

Nunes joins the chorus of other Republican lawmakers who are "seriously" considering contempt of Congress and/or impeachment over the DOJ's slow-walking of the 1.2 million documents regarding, among others, the FBI's probe into Hillary Clinton's private emails.

"It's a Judiciary Committee decision. They would vote it out and it would go to the House floor," The Hill quoted Rep. Mark Meadows. "It is being seriously considered."

Nunes is adamant that Republicans will get the document, "which, if you believe what's in The New York Times and Washington Post … was the information on an Australian diplomat talking to Mr. (George) Papadopoulos. That's what they say is in the EC."

Papadopoulos was an early adviser on Trump's presidential campaign.

"So, somehow The New York Times has it, the American people have read it, but the U.S. Congress does not have that information," Nunes said.

"The fact that they're not giving this to us tells me there's something wrong here," Nunes told Ingraham.

"We are going to get the document. We are going to get the two pages. They can either cough them up or now, or it'll get really complicated starting (Wednesday) night and we'll have to take all the steps necessary in order to get the documents," Nunes said.

However, Nunes doesn't think it will come to contempt or a subsequent vote on impeachment.

"I think they're going to give us the documents," Nunes said.
