Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis on Sunday blasted any future attempt to screen domestic travelers, calling the Biden administration “lockdowners.”
In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” DeSantis “they would not be a blessing to get away with targeting Florida.”
“[President Joe] Biden is a lockdowner and [his] advisers are lockdowners,” DeSantis said. “Lockdowns don't work. We have demonstrated that. We are not turning back.”
DeSantis lamented “lockdown states … are putting people out of business.”
“We focus on lifting people up but by doing that, you actually have new entrepreneurs coming to start new ventures,” he said. “New restaurants are opening in Florida, new hotels are opening up in Florida and so people view Florida as the place where they can follow their dreams, it is a free state.”
The governor also lauded Operation Warp Speed under the Trump administration, saying Biden should quit criticizing it.
“By and large, the Warp team did a great job,” he said.
"What I would say stop blaming your predecessor and stop playing politics, let's work together to figure out how we increase the number of doses available and get the shots in the arms," he added.
