The White House legal team is gearing up for a "knock-down, drag-out fight" with a Democratic-controlled House that has vowed to launch inquiries into the Trump administration, NBC News reported.

The news outlet reported the preparations involving putting together a new legal team set in the White House.

And, an unnamed source told NBC News the lawyers expect a "knock-down, drag-out fight" in the face of expected congressional subpoenas.

According to NBC News, White House counsel Pat Cipollone officially started on the job last week after his security clearance review was completed. He is succeeding Don McGahn as the White House's top attorney.

The legal team will include four deputies — all respected ex-Justice Department lawyers, NBC News reported; Mike Purpura, a former federal prosecutor and Justice Department official, will serve as deputy White House counsel.

The investigations expected to be launched by Democrats will likely include one focused on President Donald Trump's tax returns.

Another might subpoena information on the president's personal business transactions from Deutsche Bank that supposedly illustrate his financial interests in Russia, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., has suggested, NBC News reported.

There is reportedly more than 80 subjects related to the Trump administration that might become the focus of probes and subpoenas, The Hill reported.
