Almost three months after his corruption trial ended with a hung jury, Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., is taking back his place as the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Roll Call cited multiple Democrats in the Senate chamber who said the caucus voted to give Menendez his old seat back on the panel.

Menendez himself confirmed the news in a statement posted to Twitter:

"I am honored to resume my position as ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee," Menendez said. "At a time of immense global challenges, I will make certain the committee holds President Trump and his administration accountable for its capricious and erratic approach to foreign policy."

Menendez was indicted on federal corruption charges in 2015. His trial ultimately ended in a stalemate, and the Department of Justice said last month it will no longer pursue his case.
