Nearly three dozen lawmakers, including at least two Democrats, visited the White House Monday night to watch a movie and discuss tax reform with President Donald Trump.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told Fox News Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., were among the president's guests as Congress prepares to vote on tax reform Tuesday and Wednesday.

"I believe there were about 35 different lawmakers that came for a little bit of a more relaxed time here at the White House," Sanders said. "The president invited them to come and they watched a movie last night. My guess is they probably talked a little bit on taxes as well."

Sanders said it was a "good thing to do as the end of the year closes out and I think a good time to help bring people together before we start another aggressive year next year. And hopefully, some of those Democrat members will be more willing to work with us on some of the things like welfare reform, infrastructure, healthcare, and immigration."

No Democrats have said they will support the GOP's tax reform legislation, which is expected to be put up for a House vote Tuesday.

The Senate will vote on the bill either Tuesday or Wednesday.

"Today is a huge day, not just for the White House, not just for Congress, but most importantly for America," Sanders said. "Especially middle-class Americans, who are gonna see the biggest benefit out of this tax package."

Manchin told Politico in a new interview that he is not supporting the Republican tax bill, but he would have been a "very easy pickup. And a couple, two, three other Democrats would have been easy pickups, if [Republicans] had just made an effort."
