Republicans already are planning ahead for the 2012 elections, and conservative stalwart Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., is leading the way. He’s requesting donations from backers of his Senate Conservatives Fund so that a potential Republican takeover of Senate control after the next election would be led by conservatives,
The Hill reports.

In an e-mail sent Tuesday with the subject line "Say No to RINOs in 2011," DeMint promises the Senate Conservatives Fund will be a major player in congressional deliberations this year.
RINO is the acronym for "Republican in name only" — those who aren’t really conservative.
"I believe we can build on these victories over the two years and elect several more conservative standouts to the Senate in 2012," DeMint writes.
