Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., calling an allegation that Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted a women when they were teens a "little hiccup," predicted President Donald Trump's nominee to the Supreme Court will be confirmed.

Heller made his comments during a conference call arranged by the Nevada Republican Party on Wednesday, The Nevada Independent reported.

“I’m really grateful for the White House, for the effort of President Trump and what he has done, and the excitement that we have,” he said. “We got a little hiccup here with the Kavanaugh nomination, we’ll get through this and we’ll get off to the races."

Trump is scheduled to hold a rally on Thursday for Heller. The Hill noted Heller is locked in a tight race with Rep. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev.

Christine Blasey Ford wants the FBI to probe her assault claim against Kavanaugh. She has said the investigation should happen before a Monday hearing where she and the nominee are invited to testify. Kavanaugh has strongly denied her allegation.
