Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin is on the hot seat and could lose his job because of several scandals swarming around him.

An anonymous source told the Washington Examiner, "there's an 80 percent chance he won't be around in another month or two."

Shulkin took over the troubled VA last February to help repair the agency that was reeling from a wait list scandal, which resulted in several veterans dying while waiting for months to see a doctor, unsanitary conditions at several VA hospitals, and other problems.

Shulkin, however, is now facing scrutiny about a European trip he took with his wife on taxpayer dollars that mixed business with pleasure, along with reports of ongoing problems at VA facilities.

"We thought that he did an outstanding job his first year in office," Dan Caldwell, the executive director of Concerned Veterans for America, told the Examiner. "But we have been extremely disappointed by how he has handled himself over the past few weeks following the release of the Inspector General report on his travel.

"We aren't calling for him to resign or be fired. What we want him to do is end the drama and get back to work."

Another issue with the VA is a $4.3 billion medical records system that went online last year. Politico reported the system has been plagued with problems and bugs, which have cut into the number of veterans and active duty military members who are being seen by doctors.

"We took a broken system and just broke it completely," one doctor told Politico.

Problems with the system include the frequent inability to record basic patient data, the absence of data that should have been migrated from the old system, and delays in opening the system on computers.
