Sen. David Perdue, one of two Republicans running in Georgia's Senate runoff races, said Tuesday that if Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to follow through with her plans to come to his state to campaign for the Democrats in the race, he'll buy her ticket.
"Oh, I want to buy her ticket," Perdue told Fox News' "Fox & Friends," explaining that with the New York Democrat there to share her far-left message, it would show people the changes that those in her party want to make.
"She says, 'Look, we have to win those two seats in Georgia because we do not want to negotiate,'" Perdue said of the New York Democrat. "She wants the Green New Deal without compromise. That gave us the Affordable Care Act, Dodd-Frank ... I could go on back 100 years."
Georgia's races will determine which party controls the Senate, and Perdue said that if Democrats have total control, "you will end up with massive sweeping changes in America that you would never be able to do with a bipartisan requirement."
Perdue said that it's important that he and fellow incumbent Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler retain their seats so that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer will be denied his majority rule and Republicans can "protect everything that President [Donald] Trump has accomplished. … We are the last line of defense now."
Schumer, D-N.Y., has said "very plainly" that he "didn't work this hard" not to accomplish all he wants, including changing voting rules to get rid of the filibuster "so he can do everything with 51 votes," said Perdue.
"If he wins these two seats in Georgia, it will be 50/50," said Perdue. "If they continue and [Joe] Biden ends up being the president, then the vice president would be the tiebreaker and they could do anything they want with the House and the White House."
Meanwhile, the runoff effort has "presidential-level ground game" in Georgia, the senator said. "We will have thousands of direct employees doing nothing but making sure we get our vote out. We have already proven that Georgia is not turning blue yet."
Perdue also pointed out that he won his race by two points and believes the Republican voters will come out to vote, even though Democrats are "bringing everybody into Georgia."
