On Saturday, Parkland school shooting survivor David Hogg, 24, was among three people elected to the Democratic National Committee's vice chair position.
"I've just been elected as a Vice Chair of the DNC," Hogg posted on X. "I'm deeply grateful to the members for their trust and belief in me and I don't take it lightly. Now it's time to get to work."
Hogg, who has risen to popularity as a gun-control activist, went on to vow that the Democratic Party would strike a position between an "aggressive" and nonjudgmental posture.
"We have to stop being cowards — it's time to be bold, aggressive, and to fight — just like we did after Parkland," he posted, referencing the 2018 shooting that killed 17 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
"We need to show them who we are again, to rid our party of its judgmental attitudes, and do the work to win back every group we lost this year, from the working class to young people," he posted on Instagram.
Hogg came out of Saturday's vice chair election with about 215 votes, surpassing the 205 threshold, the New York Post reported. Joining him in the two other vice chair positions are Pennsylvania state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta, who received 298 votes, and DNC Bylaws Committee member Artie Blanco, who was elected during the third round of voting.
